Spartans sweep weekend series at Bethel

The Aurora University women's hockey team swept the weekend series with Bethel University, winning game two on Saturday afternoon 4-3 in overtime.

How it happened
-The Spartans scored first with Ellie Visser scoring 4:47 into the contest. Olivia Matson picked up the assist.
- AU led 1-0 until 18 seconds remaining in the opening period when Bethel tied the score 1-1.
- AU regained the lead 7:26 into the second period with Darci Matson scoring off an assist from Mak Cooke.
- Again the score remained 2-1 AU when Bethel scored with 18 seconds left in the second period to send the teams to intermission tied 2-2.
- Bethel took a 3-2 lead with a power play goal early in the third.
- With 8:17 left in the third, AU tied the score at 3-3. Peyton Elliott got the equalizer with assists from Olivia Matson and Sadie Parton.
- The game would head into an overtime session tied at 3.
- On a power play just 16 seconds into overtime, the Spartans special teams struck.
- Elliott scored the game winning goal at 53 seconds into overtime with the Matson sisters Olivia and Darci having the assists.
- AU won 4-3 in overtime.
