Spartans defeat CUW in four sets to win NACC title

The Aurora University women's volleyball team started fast and ended up capturing the 2021 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, night against #2 Concordia University Wisconsin. The Spartans won in four exciting sets and with the win the Spartans will return to the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship field for a fourth straight season.

Beyond the Box
- AU advances to the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championships.
- AU played in the NACC Tournament final for the fifth consecutive season, all against Concordia Wisconsin.

How it happened
- The Spartans opened up a lead midway through the opening set with kills from Sydnei Avery, Stasia Brown and Addy Gruse.
- AU won the opening set 25-20, hitting .343 as a team and led by a perfect four for four from Stasia Brown.
- The second set played out similar to the first with the Spartans grabbing a lead midway through behind a pair of kills each from Lulu Torres and Avery.
- AU would lead 24-22 after an ace from Kaycie Wenzel.
- Leading 24-23, CUW hit a ball off the tape that fell to the ground for the 25-23 AU win. The call was argued to no change by the visitors.
- Torres and Avery each had six kills in the second set winner.
- AU fell in the third set 25-19 as CUW hit their best set of the night combined with the low hitting of the night for AU.
- The fourth set was back and forth early on and the teams were tied 11-11.
- CUW took a 17-13 advantage when the AU rally began.
- The Spartans went on a 10-2 run including back to back aces from Kaitlyn Beebe. One of which added more controversy to the match when a play was originally called for a replay but the judges conferred and overturned, giving the Spartans the original ace call.
- The final point of the match came from a Lulu Torres kill.
- When the ball hit the court, the Spartans celebrated in excitement, winning another NACC crown.
