Spartan offensive explosion key to win over Falcons

Box Score The Aurora University men's hockey team put on an offensive clinic in their 7-2 win over the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Riley Doyon got AU on the board with a goal at 14;52 in the first period. LA Grissom and Shawn O'Malley recorded the assists.
- AU remained in the lead with a 1-0 score at the end of the first period 
- CUW opened the period on the power play but the Spartan penalty kill unit stifled any Falcon chance.
- Three minutes into the middle period, Brayden Sampson finished a strong Spartan rush with a backhander that found the back of the net.
- AU kept the offense coming. Dylan Ruah extended the Spartan lead to 3-0 with a goal with 9:59 to play. 
- Less than a minute later, Jack Ottenbreit finished an odd man rush and AU saw their lead climb to 4-0.
- A Falcon roughing penalty gave AU a power play and they capitalized right away. Derrick Budz scored with an assist from Brendan Blair.
- Jack Jaunich finished a nifty rush and scored to extend the AU lead to 6-0. 
- CUW scored with 23 seconds left in the second period to make the score 6-1
- Adam Keyes added a goal 6 minutes into the third period.
- CUW scored with less than a second to go for the final 7-2 score.
