Spartans shut out Thunder to open weekend set

The Aurora University women's hockey team opened their weekend set with a 2-0 shutout over Trine University.

RECORDS: Aurora University 1-5 and 1-2 NCHA; Trine University 2-5 and 0-1 NCHA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams' penalty kill units stood strong and kept the game scoreless.
- AU goalie Chiara Pfosi had eight saves in the opening period.
- Marissa Dunbar broke the scoreless tie with a goal late in the second period. Hannah Gwillim recorded the assist.
- AU took the 1-0 lead into second intermission.
- AU and Trine traded scoring chances early in the third but both netminders kept the puck out of the net.
- Marisa Trevino added insurance for the Spartans midway through the third period which gave the Spartans a 2-0.
- AU would keep the Thunder off the board the remainder of the game to record their first win of the season.
