- AU jumped out to a quick lead 3:08 into the game, Adam Keyes scored on a Jack Jaunich assist.
- After Adrian tied the contest, the Spartans scored a pair of goals just 28 seconds a part.
- Keyes scored his second of the day, once again with a Jaunich helper with Jack Rudin scoring immediately after with assists from Larry Jungwirth and Connor Smith.
- AU led 3-1 after one period.
- Adrian scored the only goals in the second to tie the game 3-3 after 40 minutes of play.
- 1:22 into the third, Riley Doyon scored to give AU a 4-3 lead.
- The home team would score two goals to take a 5-4 lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the contest.
