- The Spartans went on a run and pulled out to a 40-30 lead on the back of
Rashad Johnson's 10 points in that span.
- The Spartans carried that momentum into halftime, and were leading 51-42.
- In the first half, AU shot 44% from beyond the arc.
- Rockford started off the second half hot, narrowing it to a two point game within the first five minutes of play.
- Rockford took the lead 82-81 with five minutes left in the game, but Johnson quickly hit a three-pointer which gave the Spartans the lead, and they never trailed again in the game.

Mahlik Hall iced the game with two free-throws to put the score out of reach and secure a Spartan victory.
