The Aurora University Spartan softball team opened the 2021 home schedule at Bedrosian Stadium with a sweep of Augustana College, winning 3-1 and 13-6.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONEÂ
- The Spartans scored two quick runs in the bottom of the first inning with
Josephine Lytton doubling in
Brianna Lewis and then Lytton scoring on a
Lexie Rayborn single.
- The two runs were more than enough for AU starting pitcher
Hannah Tomasko who scattered three hits while striking out eight Vikings and allowing one run.
- In the second,
Tyler Chambers singled with two outs and then scored on an Augustana error.
- Augustana broke up the shutout bid in the fourth with a hit by pitch eventually coming around to score.
- Tomasko would keep the 3-1 lead in place as AU won game one.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- Scoring a lots of it was on tap for game two.
- Both teams scored a run in the first with Augustana adding another in the third.
- AU added two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead.
- Augustana tied the game in the fourth, setting up a wild final couple innings.
- The Spartans scored six times in the bottom of the fifth with doubles from
Aly Teixeira (drove in one) and
Delilah Aguirre (two rbi) doing damage.
- After Augustana scored three times in the sixth, the Spartan bats answered.

Ashley Talaga had a bases clearing double to left center field to score three and AU pushed across four runs to lead 13-6.

Hannah Tomasko finished the final 1-2/3 innings in relief of
Taylor Shaw who earned the victory.
