Spartan men tune up at Whitewater Opener

The Aurora University men's track and field team had a partial squad compete at the Spring Opener hosted by UW-Whitewater in Whitewater, WI.

The Spartans had 5 men place in the top six in the 200. Dylan Whisenant and Christian Carpenter placed top four in the shot put. The 4x400 meter relay of Danyrine White, Isaac Heard, Kaiden Hall, and Edgar Dominguez finished second.

Five Spartans had lifetime best performances. Danyrine White, Carlos Flores, and Edgar Dominguez ran their fastest 100. Dominguez also jumped his best of 1.55m (5'1") in the high jump. Kaiden Hall jumped 12.32m (0.5) (40'5") in the triple jump. Sophomore Dylan Whisenant had lifetime best throws in both hammer and discus.

Head Coach Jeff Fellers said, "Today wasn't about marks/times/distances, it was about getting out there and competing hard in some tough conditions and we did that today.
Our Jumpers really got after it, Kaiden Hall had a 2 foot PR in the triple jump, and Edgar Dominguez is a PR machine. He has PR'd in all 7 events he has competed in this year. In the throws it was nice to see some of the things Dylan Whisenant has been doing in practice translate to a meet. The sprint group had a few guys make finals in the 100m and placing five in the 200m shows some things are coming together for the sprinters, as they had some stiff competition today. This is a really fun team, and I can't wait for our next meet in two weeks when we add back in the distance crew and everyone feeds off each other's energy!"

Next action for the men's track and field team is Friday, April 9 when they travel to Benedictine University for The Eagle Invitational.
