AU duo named NACC Players of the Week

Aurora University senior attack Harrison Canaday and and sophomore long-stick midfielder Connor Hoeft have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 22-28, 2021, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

Offense
Canaday had a nine-point week with four goals on 12 shots with five assists while also picking up two ground balls. He had three goals with two coming on the man-up patrol in a closely played one-point loss to regional foe Illinois Wesleyan on March 24. Canaday added three assists and a goal in a 19-4 win over Illinois Tech on March 27.

On the season, Canaday has a team-leading 26 points on a team-high 18 goals with eight assists. He also leads AU with three man-up goals.

Defense
Hoeft had a strong week, picking up 10 ground balls while causing five turnovers and registering an assist as Aurora split a pair of matches last week. He was instrumental in the Spartans' near upset of Illinois Wesleyan and a key factor for an Aurora defense that limited Illinois Tech to just four goals.

On the season, Hoeft has a team-leading 14 caused turnovers with 30 groundballs and has two assists.

Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Saturday, April 3 when they travel to Concordia University Wisconsin. Game time is set for 1:00 pm in Mequon, Wisconsin.
