Spartans sweep day two at Fontbonne

The Aurora University baseball team swept their doubleheader against Fontbonne University, 14-2, 14-6 on Sunday afternoon in the show-me state.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS -
- Fontbonne loaded the bases in the 2nd inning, but were only able to bring one run across to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Spartans answered in the top of the 3rd when Jake Ambuel singled in Nick Baldassano to tie the game 1-1.
- The Griffins would be retired in order the following half inning.
- Paul Dobravec led off the top of the 4th with a rocket in the right center gap that would clear the fence and give the Spartans a 2-1 lead.
- Again Malmberg retired the Griffins hitters three up three down, and the Spartans would open the game up in the top of the 5th.
- A Dylan White double, Justin Sartori reaching on error, and Collin Meinert walk would load the bases with one out for the Spartans.
- Dobravec would get hit by the next pitch extending the Spartans lead to 3-1.
- Josh Reinhardt would deliver the biggest hit of the with no doubt grand slam to left field. 7-1 Spartans.
- In the top of 7th Corey Vondra would get in to one with a towering 3-run homerun to center.
- The Spartans would add again in the 8th as White, Meinert, and Blake Milburn would all come across to score.
- The Griffins would add one in the bottom of the 8th on a homerun, but could not avoid the mercy rule. 14-2 Spartans.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Spartans wasted no time getting runs across in game two.
- AU would have 5 come across on hits from Justin Sartori, Dobravec, Rivera, and a Reinhardt sac fly.
- Fontbonne was able to bring one guy across in the bottom half.
- The AU offense would load the bases again in the top of the 2nd and bring two in on a Dobravec HBP and Meinert walk.
- Sean Rivera would step up to the plate and hit a bases clearing triple to cap off the scoring for the inning. 10-1 Spartans.
- In the bottom of the 3rd the Griffins would score 3 on 3 hits.
- In the top of 5th AU would add 1 when White would hit a sac fly to right, scoring Vondra.
- Vondra would add more in 6th when he hit one down the right field line scoring two on a triple.
- Fontbonne would score two in 7th on three doubles.
- AU would score their 14th run in the 8th when Eric Johansen grounded out to third base scoring Reinhardt.
- Carlos Garcia and Jack Fisher would close the door on the Griffins securing an AU 14-6 win.
