Spartans sweep Eagles behind Tomasko pitching and Rourke homers

The Aurora University Spartan softball team played a conference doubleheader at Bedrosian Stadium Monday afternoon against Benedictine University. The Spartans swept the Eagles 2-0, and 2-1 behind the right arm of pitcher Hannah Tomasko and two long home runs from Cassidy Rourke.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE 
- The Spartans got on the board in the 1st inning when Lexie Rayborn singled in Brianna Lewis who led off with an infield single.
- Hannah Tomasko was dealing again allowing only three hits through the first five innings.
- Leading off the bottom of the 5th Cassidy Rourke hit a long homerun over the leftcenter field fence to put the Spartans up 2-0.
- Tomasko continued her dominance in the game shutting out the Eagles for a 2-0 Spartan win.

- Both pitchers kept the opposing offenses off balance through the first two innings.
- BU would open up the scoring in the 3rd with a solo homerun.
- In the bottomg of the fourth, Spartan Aly Teixeira tied the game up with a single up the middle to score Josephine Lytton.
- The tie was broken in the 5th when Rourke would send another deep shot over the left field fence.
- Tomasko would come in the circle in the fifth to close the game out and secure a 2-1 Spartan win.
