The Aurora University Spartan softball team hosted Dominican University Thursday evening in the first round of the NACC Tournament. The Spartans defeated the Stars 7-1 to advance to the second round that will be played tomorrow Friday, May 7.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE 
- Spartan Hannah Tomasko continued her regular season dominance into the post season striking out the first two batters she faced.
- Brianna Lewis got the Spartan offense going with a triple to lead off the bottom of the first. Josephine Lytton would knock her in to take the early 1-0 lead.
- Spartan Ashley Talaga came around to score in the 2nd inning on Jordan Seyfried's one out double down the right field line.
- Spartan Kaylee Underwood, pinch running for Seyfried, scored on Tyler Chamber's two out single for the second run in the 2nd inning. 3-0 Spartans.
- In the top of the 4th, Talaga took a hit away from the Stars, throwing out the DU hitter from her knees deep in the shortstop hole.
- The Spartans brought home two runs in the 5th on Lexie Rayborn's two out double. Extending the Spartan lead to 5-0.
- Lewis with her second triple of the day brought home two runs, Heather Vetter and Chambers, for the Spartans in the 6th.
- Spartans win 7-1.
