Women's Lacrosse - NCAA Championship Preview

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team will enter the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships for the first time in program history. The Spartans finished the 2021 regular season with a 10-3 overall record, a dominate 5-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record, while winning the programs first NACC and NACC tournament title. The Spartans will open the NCAA Championships at the University of Chicago in the second round on Sunday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m. against Carroll University.

  • The Spartans will play Carroll University in the second round. AU fell at Carroll in the regular season on March 13, 17-8.
All-Time Series -
  • The teams will meet for the third time dating back to the 2015 season.
  • The Spartans are 1-1 against the Pioneers.

  • Senior Claire Carlson comes in the tournament having been named the NACC Offensive Player of the Year. She has 40 goals and 19 assists.
  • Sophomore Monique Gibson was named the NACC Midfielder of the Year, she has 48 goals and 20 assists.
  • Senior Emma-Lee Martel was named the NACC Defensive Player of the Year with 26 caused turnovers, 31 draw controls and 29 ground balls.
  • In the net for the Spartans, junior Jenna Ford has an 8-3 record with a .490 save percentage and allowing 5.77 goals against.
  • AU has scored 208 goals while allowing 75.

About the Pioneers –
  • Carroll enters the 2021 NCAA Championships for the first time in their program history.
  • The Pioneers have an overall record of 11-3 and 4-1 in the CCIW
  • Clara Jelacic leads the Pioneers having scored 51 goals with 12 assists.
  • Rebecca McDaniel has been the Pioneer goalkeeper with an 11-2 record with a 9.06 goals against average.
  • Carroll has scored 202 goals while allowing 125.

  • With a victory in the second round against Carroll, the Spartans would move on to the Sweet 16 on Saturday, May 15 and take on the winner of the match-up between Denison University and St. Mary's University (Ind.) at Washington and Lee University.
