"The AVCA team academic award is one of the most important awards of the year," said AU Women's Volleyball Head Coach
James Seitelman. "It is the reason we are here to excel in the classroom, I am very proud of this groups accomplishments both on and off the court during the 2020-2021 year."
AU had a 3.55 team grade point average during the 2020-2021 academic year, and 17 Spartans were previously honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as scholar-athletes for their achievements in the classroom.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
