- The first half went by quietly as both teams had five shots, none of them finding the back of the net.

- In the 70th minute Spartan Connor Erickson would score on a pass from Sal Garcia.
- Four minutes later AU would take the lead when Garcia would set up Anthony Marmolejo for the goal. 2-1 Spartans.
