- AU fell behind 5-0 in the opening set and battled back but could not gain the lead and fell 25-21.
- Despite out hitting Southwestern in the set, the Spartans fell in the very tightly played second set, 25-23.
- An early deficit proved to much to overcome in the third set as AU fell 25-12 and lost the match 3-0.
