Spartan men make moves in top 10 rankings

The Aurora University men's track and field had a strong showing at the Aurora Grand Prix. Four Spartans had performances that rank them top ten in AU history.
 
Eli Grundman PR'd in pole vault with a vault of 4.40m (14'5.25"). This clearance ranks him second in school history. Robbie Peterson Jr. PR'd in long jump. His jump of 6.87m (22'6.5") ranks him fourth in AU history. Diego Hassell's lifetime best of 9.01 in the 60-meter hurdles ranks him sixth in program history. Danyrine White PR'd in the 400, running 50.90 (51.72 after conversion for the banked track). This time ranks him seventh in school history. Peterson placed first in high jump with a PR. His jump of 1.95m (6'4.75") moves him up to eighth in AU history.
 
The sprinters had multiple personal bests. White PR'd in the 200-meter with a time of 22.96 while Malik Whitehead PR'd in 23.21. John Conwell and Carlos Flores both had personal bests in the 60-meter and 200-meter. Zavier Garcia PR'd in the 400-meter. Arturo Sosa had a lifetime best performance in weight throw.
 
 Liam Evans ran a lifetime best in the 800 and Cris Valencia ran an indoor 5K PR.
 
Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team is Saturday, February 5 when they compete at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago.
