Spartans complete weekend sweep of Lumberjills

The Aurora University women's hockey team wasted no time in jumping out to a lead in the second game of the weekend series with Northland. AU led 2-0 after the first period and held on to win 4-2.

How it happened
- AU and Peyton Elliott scored 2:45 into the game. Stephanie Schmunk and Ava Eid assisted on the play.
- Nine minutes later, Marisa Trevino put the Spartans up 2-0. Eid picked up her second assist of the day along with Makenna Brownlee.
- 3:11 into the second period, AU added another goal. Olivia Buzzelli scored the goal with assists from Eid and Rachel Campoli.
- Northland scored twice on the power play later in the second to cut the AU lead to 3-2.
- The Spartans took the one goal lead into the second intermission.
- Early scoring in periods continued for AU in the third. Macey Horbach gave the Spartans a two goal advantage 7:07 into the third. Olivia Matson had the helper.
- Samantha Steciak played the final 12:44 of the game in net for the Spartans and AU was victorious 4-2.
- Senior Chiara Pfosi stopped 11 of the 13 shots sent her way on the day for the winning effort.
