Five Spartans recognized on NACC men’s soccer postseason awards

The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced the 2022 Men's Soccer postseason awards and All-Conference Teams on Thursday. AU had five recipients, two First-Team and three Second-Team All-Conference members. 

First-Team All-Conference honors went to senior defender Connor Erickson and junior midfielder Enrique Gonzalez. Erickson anchored the AU defense that allowed 1.17 goals over 18 games and had three shutouts. Erickson also had one assist on the season. Gonzalez earned the NACC honor as AU's top scorer tallying 10 goals and four assists on the season.

Joining in the postseason recognition as Second-Team All-Conference selections were junior goalkeeper Jalen Depenbrock, senior defender Evan Kocsis, senior midfielder Sal Garcia. Depenbrock landed the NACC honor recording 70 saves for a 4-3-4 overall record. He has a 1.18 goals against average and a .824 save percentage. Kocsis, another strong member of the AU defense, started in all 18 games and recorded one assist. Garcia tallied three assists on the season while anchoring the AU defense from his midfield position. 

The Spartan men's soccer team is currently has an 8-3-6 overall record and finished as 2022 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Co-Champions with a 7-2-3 NACC record. Next action for the Spartan men's soccer team comes on Saturday, November 5 when they host the 2022 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship game against Benedictine University. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Spartan Athletic Park in Montgomery, Illinois.
