- The Spartans got off to a slow start, trailing 16-2 3:55 into the first quarter.
- After a Crystal Rios three cut the deficit down to eight, the Spartans had to battle back with Elmhurst going up 15 at 25-10 with just under two minutes on the first quarter clock.
- When the first quarter busser sounded, AU was down 28-16.
- With a Rios basket late in the first quarter, the Spartans had a 14-1 run to the 4:59 mark of the second to pull within one at 29-28.
- Macey Kocen had eight points to help fuel the AU scoring run.
- AU headed to halftime down seven at 39-32.
- The Spartans came out hot to start the second-half with four points from Jaylah Mays and a three from Rios to take their first lead of the game at 40-39 less than a minute in.
- The teams would battle back and forth in the third quarter with AU taking a one-point lead after three, 59-58.
- In the fourth, AU calmly built a double-digit lead on a Talia Bee bucket with 1:30 to play.
- Elmhurst would hit back to back three to cut the AU lead to four but the Spartans made their free throws down the stretch and won 80-75.
