AU women continue trending upwards

The Aurora University women's track and field team placed seventh at the North Central College Heenan Invite. The Spartans finished with 22 personal bests.

Deyanneira Colon Maldonado had lifetime bests in both of her events, moving her up spots on the top ten in school history list. In the mile she placed fourth with a time of 5:23.72. This time ranks her sixth in school history. Colon Maldonado finished off her double with a PR in the 3K. Her time of 10:50.60 is eighth in AU history.

In the 5K, Abby Liesen ran the 11th fastest time in school history with a personal best of 19:22.50. Emily Fetzer also PR'd in the 5K running her fastest indoor time.

Along with Colon Maldonado, seven Spartans ran personal bests in the mile. Madison Etheridge won her heat with a time of 5:34.66. Shaley Gonzalez, Katy Liesen, Alex Gonzalez, Isabella Encinas, Kelly Helton, and Ava Sorgenfrey also had lifetime best performances.
 
Running their second event of the meet, Etheridge had an indoor PR in the 800 while A. Liesen and K. Liesen had lifetime PRs.
 
Alayna Koehler and August Pautsch pushed each other in the 800 to both drop over five seconds.
 
Ari Mack and Rachel Martinez ran lifetimes bests in the 200 and 400 while Skylar Gibbs PR'd in the 60 hurdles.
 
S. Gonzalez had a lifetime best performance in triple jump with a jump of 9.30m (30'6.25").

Next action for the Spartan women's track and field team is Friday, February 18 when they travel to Dubuque, Iowa for the Butler Classic.
