Spartans open up large first quarter lead and run away from Regents

The Aurora University women's basketball team lit up the Rockford scoreboard in the opening 10 minutes of action, leading 29-6 and then coasting to a 64-44 victory at Rockford University.

How it happened
- The Spartans jumped out to a 16-0 lead with 5:20 left in the first quarter behind seven points from Eliot Dojutrek.
- A Kylie Fischbach layup with 55 seconds left put AU up 25 (29-4).
- AU led 29-6 after one with Talia Bee and Dojutrek each scoring nine points.
- The second quarter saw both teams struggled from the field and heading to halftime, AU led 38-16.
- The Spartans offensive struggles continued in the third quarter but the defensive end for AU kept the game well within the grasp of AU.
- Heading to the fourth, AU led 46-28.
- AU rebounded offensively in the fourth with an 18 point effort to pull away from the Regents.
- Sam Barrett had five points with Selena Vargas adding four in the fourth quarter.
- The Spartans were victorious 64-44.
