Spartans dominate Carthage in CCIW dual

The Aurora University Spartans men's wrestling team dominated the mat in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Thursday night at Carthage College, defeating the host Fire Birds 40-9.

How it happened
- AU jumped out to a 22-0 lead.
- Zane Ely got the Spartans scoring started with a major decision win at 125.
- Tyler Evitts needed 2:07 for a fall to win at 133 and a 10-0 lead.
- Cam Johnson then followed with a fall at 2:36 at 141 and AU led 16-0.
- A forfeit win at 149 for Evan Reilly put the Spartans up 22-0.
- Carthage won the 157 and 165 matches which accounted for their nine points on the night.
- Luke Silva got the Spartans rolling on the scoreboard again with a technical fall at 174.
- Alton Mullinax followed at 184 with a major decision win. AU now led 31-9.
- Armando Ferrer won his match at 197 by a 5-2 decision.
- Cam'Ron Harper added his name in the winning column for the Spartans at 285, he won his match by amedical forfeit.
- The Spartans would dominate the dual and win 40-9.

Next action for the Spartan men's wrestling team comes on Friday, January 13 when they host Millikin University in a dual meet. First match is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
