How it happened

- Midway through the second, AU fell behind CUW 2-0 when the Falcons scored back to back power play goals, one on a 5 on 3.
- With just under three minutes left in the second, Madison Gasper got the AU rally started. She was assisted by Darci Matson and Marisa Trevino on the play.
- With 54 seconds left in the second, Melina Cane made a rush up the far boards and hammered a slap shot from just outside the dot. The blistered shot lit the lamp an tied the game 2-2.
- The teams went to the second intermission tied 2-2.
- Just before the end of the second AU went to the power play and 22 seconds into the third the special team put AU ahead.
- Peyton Elliott slammed home a rebound for the power play tally and eventual game winner.
- A few minutes later, Gasper scored her second of the day with assists again from Trevino and Matson.
- Late in the third, CUW went to an empty net and extra skater. With the net empty, Matson found pay dirt from 3/4 of the rink away after a feed from Erin Campbell.
