The Aurora University women's track team continued their indoor season by hosting and competing at the Aurora Grand Prix.
Spartan Skylar Gibbs opened her day by running a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles. Her time of 9.87 moves her up to eighth in school history.
Deyanneira Colon Maldonado ran her first mile of the season in 5:13.70. This is not only a seven-second personal best, but the banked track conversion puts her at fourth in Aurora's history. Maldonado followed her mile with a three second personal best in the 3 kilometer race, running 10:42.90. Madison Etheridge also debuted in the mile on the season, running a nine-second PR of 5:26.69 to win her heat.
Lauren Bliefernicht ran to a new personal record of 26.55 in the 200 meter dash. This time adds her to yet another Spartan top ten list, putting her at seventh in school history. Bliefernicht also tied her personal record of 8.13 in the 60 meter dash.
Freshman Keyara Bailey tied her personal best of 1.50 meters in the high jump, placing seventh in the event overall and scoring for the team.
Silja Erikson led the way for the Spartans in the throws with a new PR of 12.83 in the weight throw. This mark was 60 centimeters better than her previous best.
Gibbs, Etheridge, Ari Mack, and Bliefernicht ended their day with a season best for the Spartans in the 4x400 meter relay. The women ran a time of 4:16.46.
