Spartans secure NACC crown with victory at BU

The Aurora University men's soccer team secured the 2023 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season title with a 3-1 victory at Benedictine University on Wednesday night in Lisle. The Spartans have won the NACC in back to back seasons and three of the last five years.

How it happened
- The Spartans wasted little time showing who the better club was on Wednesday night with Enrique Gonzalez scoring at 8:04 off a Gio Villegas assist.
- 1:23 later AU went up 2-0 with Gonzalez assisting along with Jaziel Enriquez on an Anthony Marmolejo goal.
- In the 32nd minute the hosts would score to give the Spartans some pressure as they were scoreboard watching.
- Early in the second period the Spartans attacked but couldn't find the net to add to their lead.
- At 68:46 the Spartans drew a foul in the box which sent Gonzalez to the dot for the penalty kick.
- Gonzalez converted his 20th goal of the season to give the Spartans a 3-1 advantage.
- AU would make the lead hold up and claim victory over the Eagles 3-1 to secure a share of the NACC title.
