Spartans coast past Judson in home opener

The Aurora University women's basketball team squared off against Judson University in their first home game of the 2023-2024 season. A strong second half saw AU come away with an 82-61 victory to move them to 3-0 in the young season.

How it happened
- Eliot Dojutrek got the AU offense rolling scoring the game's first five points.
- A Kamryn Bullock three-pointer gave the Spartans a 12-6 lead with 3:33 left in the first quarter.
- AU led the entire first frame as the score sat at 14-9 going into the second quarter.
- Each team traded baskets to start the second, as a Selena Vargas layup gave the Spartans their largest lead of the first half at 22-14.
- Riley Doggett drained a three-pointer to stop a 9-0 Judson run with 3:10 left in the first half. This gave AU a 25-23 lead.
- As the final seconds were ticking off in the first half, Doujtrek was able to finish on a fast break that gave the Spartans a 32-29 lead heading into halftime.
- Doujtrek led AU in the first half with 11 points.
- AU's defense forced the Eagles into shooting just 22% from beyond the arc in the first-half.
- The third quarter saw AU start to pull away as they outscored Judson 23-13.
- The Spartans went on a 13-3 run thanks to a barrage of three-pointers.
- AU took a 13-point lead after the third with another Doujtreak layup as time was winding down. 
- The Spartans show 50% from three-point range in the third quarter.
- An 18-5 run to start the fourth saw AU gain full momentum. 
- A Bullock three gave the Spartans their largest lead of the game at 73-49 with just over three minutes remaining.
- The strong second half allowed AU to cruise to an 82-61 victory.
- Three Spartans reached double figures in scoring as Gabrielle Wolff shot over 60% in the game with four three-pointers.
- Sam Barrett collected three steals in the contest.
