Fourth quarter spark ignites Spartans past Eagles

The Aurora University women's basketball team used a stong fourth quarter to surpass and soar above the Eagles of Benedictine University on Saturday afternoon in Lisle, Illinois with AU winning 73-64.

How it happened
- The Spartans were cold from the field shooting to start the contest, falling behind 19-3 and trailing 24-9 after one quarter of play.
- AU opened the second on a 15-4 run and a Macy Kocen basket pulled the Spartans to down 28-24 midway through the second.
- The Spartans then finished the half on a 5-0 run with a three from Gabby Moore and free throws from Talia Bee.
- Going to halftime, AU trailed 36-34.
- With 4:55 left in the third, Talia Bee drained a three to give the Spartans their first lead of the day at 43-41.
- The hosts regained the lead and after three quarters, AU trailed 51-47.
- A 17-4 AU run to open the fourth put the game away for the Spartans. 
- Seven different Spartans led by five points from Macy Kocen scored in the game changing run.
- AU's lead in the final minutes never went below five and would hold on to the nine point win.
- The Spartans were victorious 73-64.

Next action for the Spartan women's basketball team comes on Tuesday, February 21 when they host the first round of the 2022-2023 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. AU hosts Edgewood College with opening tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
