Wedekind becomes All-Time hits leader as Spartans split doubleheader

Aurora University senior catcher Jett Wedekind became the all-time leader in hits with his 241st as the AU baseball team split a doubleheader with Anderson University winning 9-2 and falling 4-3 in two seven inning contests.

How it happened
GAME ONE
- Doubles from Sean Rivera, Nico Bermeo and Justin Sartori in the third scored two runs as the Spartans took an early 2-0 lead.
- Anderson cut the AU lead in half in the bottom of the third.
- Three more hits in the fourth including a second double of the day from Bermeo put AU up 4-1.
- The game remained 4-1 into the seventh when the Spartan bats blew open the game.
- Bermeo led off with a home run and Josh Reinhardt and Rivera both had two run triples and AU led 9-1.
- Anderson added a run in the bottom of the seventh but Nick Malmberg would be the winner as the Spartans won 9-2.

GAME TWO
- AU threatened in the first after a lead off double from Nico Bermeo but he would be left stranded at third.
- Anderson scored the games first run in the fifth.
- The Spartans struck in the bottom of the fifth with four hits plating three runs.
- It was a two run single from Jett Wedekind, his 241st of his career which moves him into first on the all-time hits list that was the big knock of the frame.
-  Anderson got three hits to start the sixth with the third being a home run to go ahead 4-3.
- The would be the final score as AU fell 4-3.
