The Aurora University women's lacrosse team waited out the expected winter weather that avoided the Spartan Athletic Park and went on to host and easily defeat the visiting Firebirds of Carthage College 17-6 on Saturday afternoon.

- The Spartans left little doubt in the first quarter who was in command of the contest as AU opened up a 7-2 lead.
- AU got goals from

Danielle Cobbett in the opening quarter.
- Yaukovitz and
Brianna Peck scored early in the second and AU had a 9-2 lead.
- After a pair of Carthage goals, Cobbett and Simpson scored with Simpson collecting her hat trick.
- Heading to halftime, AU led 11-4.
- Three AU goals in the first 5:34 of the third led to a running clock. Gibson scored twice for her third and fourth of the game and Yaukovitz scored her second of the day.
- Just before the end of the third, Carthage scored to make the score 14-5 and set the clock back to a regular running.
- Simpson would add two goals in the fourth and another from Yaukovitz as AU coasted to the 17-6 victory.
