Spartans become regionally ranked and roll past Regents

The Aurora University Spartan men's volleyball team were among the regionally ranked teams when the NCAA Division III regional committees announced the first rankings this afternoon. The Spartans when took to the road and rolled by the Regents of Rockford University 3-0.

How it happened
- AU had a tussle early with the Regents in the opening set with the score tied at 11-11.
- A kill and ace from John McCormack gave the Spartans a lead they would not give back at 13-11.
- The Spartans won the set 25-15 with James Karwin at the service line for the final six AU points which included three aces.
- AU won 25-15 in the set one opener.
- The Spartans had a quicker handle on the second set with a pair of Mateo Scharosch giving AU an early 10-6 lead.
- AU would win the set 25-20 with four kills each from John McCormack, James Karwin and Mateo Scharosch.
- The third set was all AU with the Spartans jumping out to a 7-1 lead.
- Aces from Karwin and Ethan Kane led the way.
- Lucas Meier would have six kills in the third set as AU romped 25-12 and won the match 3-0.

Next action for the Spartan men's volleyball team comes on Friday, March 31 when they host University of California-Santa Cruz. Opening serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium with UC-Santa Cruz and Loras College playing at 5:00 p.m. as well.
