Aurora University Athletics

The Aurora University softball team opened the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference slate with a sweep of the Inferno of Alverno College, winning 4-1 and 14-0 in 5 innings.

Game One 
- AU started the game with nine straight balls and walks to Jemma Fiehweg and Kionna King but could not manage to score in the frame.
- The Spartans would score in the third with a lead off infield single from Jordan Seyfried. Isabel Morales pinch ran and scored on a double from Kionna King.
- The game remained 1-0 until the fifth when AU loaded the bases with no outs and Kionna King singled in Faith Biggs for a 2-0 lead.
- After a double play , Lexi Rayborn blooped in a single to score two and AU led 4-0 .
- Madelyn Buske kept the Inferno off the scoreboard until the seventh when they loaded the bases with three straight singles to start the frame.
- With two-outs, a single ended the Buske shutout attempt but she got a strikeout to end the game and a 4-1 AU win.

Game Two 
- The Spartans started fast in game two with Jemma Fiehweg leading off with a walk and scoring on a Kionna King double. 
- After an Alverno error, Tyler Chambers singled to score King and when the ball got past the Inferno fielder, Delilah Aguirre scored from first and Chambers was on third.
- AU led 3-0 after one innings.
- In the second the Spartans threatened again with Fiehweg walking abd a King double putting Spartans on second and third with two outs. But a pop iup ended the inning and AU still led just 3-0.
- In the fourth the Spartans blew the game open, scoring 11 runs on six hits and just one Alverno throwing error aiding the effort.
- The big hits of the inning were a three run triple and a two-run double from Lexi Rayborn.
- AU would go on to win 14-0 behind a shutout win from Rylee Campbell.
