The Aurora University softball team opened the 2023 season in central Florida with a split of a two team doubleheader, defeating Heidelberg University 3-1 before falling 5-0 to Trine University.

Game One vs. Heidelberg University
- AU took an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second. Shelby Linn doubled to score Delilah Aguirre and later in the inning Tyler Chambers scored on a sac fly from Jordan Seyfried.
- Heidelberg cut the AU lead in half in the fourth but Spartan Rylee Campbell got out of any further damage with a strikeout to end the inning.
- In the fifth, Jemma Fiehweg walked with one out and would later score an insurance run to put AU ahead 3-1.
- Campbell got out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh with two Heidelberg runners on second and third with just one out. Two pop ups ended the game as Campbell improved to 1-0.

Game Two vs. Trine University
- The Spartans threatened in the first with two on and one out but came up empty.
- The game was scoreless into the fourth.
- Trine manufactured single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth before adding two in the seventh inning.
- AU had base runners in each of the last three innings but couldn't push across a run.
- The Spartans fell 5-0.
