The Aurora University softball team traveled to Rockford University for their final conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon. The Spartans and Regents played a combined 22 innings with the Spartans winning game one 5-4 in 14 innings and game two 4-2 in eight innings.

Game One
- AU fell behind 1-0 in the first inning.
- With one out in the top of the third, the Spartans tied the game 1-1.
Jordan Seyfried doubled to left center and
Jemma Fiehweg scored pitch runner Isabel Morals with a single through the right side.
- The Regents scored two in the fourth off an inside the park home run and AU trailed 3-1.
- AU answered back scoring one in the next frame. With two outs,
Tyler Chambers singled to center field to bring around
Alex Thiel who reached on a Rockford error.
- In the sixth, the Spartans took the lead, scoring two runs. AU loaded the bases to start the inning and
Delilah Aguirre drove in
Kionna King with a sac fly to left field.
Alex Thiel followed with an RBI single to bring around pitch runner
Emma Bachio.
- AU lead 4-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth.
- In the bottom of the frame, the Regents added one, tying the game 4-4.
- The Spartans and Regents played an extra seven innings with both teams unable to string together hits.
- In the 14th inning, the Spartans broke the tie when
Tyler Chambers drove in
Alex Thiel on a single up the middle.

Madelyn Buske pitched 14 innings and was able to keep the Regents offense from manufacturing any runs.

Game Two
- The Spartans loaded the bases in the opening frame, but were only able to bring one run across.
- The Regents took the lead in the third, scoring two on a single.
- With two outs in the fourth,
Faith Biggs singled up the middle to score
Alex Thiel who reached on a fielder's choice. The game was tied 2-2.
- The Regents threatened in the bottom of the fourth with runners on first and second, but
Tyler Chambers threw a laser to second to pick off the runner and the Spartans got out of the inning with no runs coming across.
- The game remained tied 2-2 through seven innings and for the second time of the day, the game headed into extra innings.
- AU broke the tie in the top of the eighth when
Jordan Seyfried stepped to the plate with bases loaded and singled to left field to score Thiel.
Jemma Fiehweg followed with a SAC fly to drive in Biggs for an insurance run.

Next scheduled action for the Spartan softball team comes on Thursday, May 11 when they are scheduled to host the 2023 NACC Tournament as the No. 4 seed. First pitch of the Spartans NACC tournament game against Benedictine University is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Bedrosian Stadium in Montgomery, Illinois.
