The Aurora University athletics program had a highly successful season and one of the best ever in Spartan athletics history throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. AU won 10 conference championships and 14 teams or individuals from teams make NCAA Championship appearances.
The AU athletic programs finished the year 55th out of the over 450 Division III athletic programs in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division III standings. The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup is a comprehensive ranking of intercollegiate athletic departments based on their participation in NCAA Championship events.
Â
Aurora University was the recipient of both Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) All-Sports Awards for the 2022-2023 academic year. The awards are indicative of a program's overall excellence across all league sports.
Â
The Spartans captured the women's title for the eighth time while taking home the men's title for the 10th time in the NACC's 16 seasons of awarding the All-Sports Trophy. It is the eighth time a single institution has swept both All-Sports Awards with six of the times being done by the Spartans. In the history of the NACC, AU has won 18 total All-Sports Awards (out of 32 awarded).
In the classroom the Spartans once again were successful with 392Â student-athletes earning Spartan Scholar designation. A Spartan Scholar is a student-athlete from any of the 24Â NCAA sports who earned a 3.25 gpa or above for the 2022-2023Â academic year. As a department, the student-athletes that make of the 24 programs had a 3.41 grade point average with 23 programs achieving above a 3.0. 336 Spartans had above a 3.5 gpa with 97 Spartans carrying a 4.0 for the entire year.
