Spartans finish strong on second day at Wheaton

The Aurora University women's volleyball team split the day two matches at the Wheaton College Invite on Saturday, making quick work of Manchester in a 3-0 victory before going toe to toe with no. 2 Hope, falling 3-1.

How it happened
MATCH ONE:
- The Spartans trailed 7-6 in the opening set but a flurry of Manchester attack errors allowed the Spartans to grab the lead and run away with a 25-20 win.
- Lulu Torres led six Spartans with kills in the opener.
- AU again took advantage of errors from Manchester in the second set to win.
- Torres led again with five kills and Manchester aided with 10 attack errors for the Spartans 25-16 win.
- The Spartans led throughout the third set and once again took advantage of the opponents errors.
- Celeste Cozzoni, Riley Moreno and Dani Lauer each had three kills in the set win.

MATCH TWO
- The Spartans jumped out to an early 10-4 lead and held the largest lead at 13-6.
- Nine unforced AU errors led to a Hope comeback win 25-19.
- Torres led with five kills in the first set.
- AU dropped the second set 25-15.
- The Spartans led from the opening point of the third set and won 25-18.
- Torres added five more kills while Kate Poellmann had four.
- The fourth set was a back and forth battle between the two teams.
- Seven lead changes with eight tied scores in the frame led to a 25-23 thrilling set with Hope coming out in the end.
- Six Spartans had kills with four each from Poellmann, Torres and Cozzoni.
