The Aurora University Women's cross country team played host this year's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships at Northwestern Medicine XC Course in Geneva. The team scored 43 points to take second on Saturday afternoon behind three different Spartans placing in the top 10.
Deedee Colon Maldonado won the conference title, defeating the field with a time of 21:41.95. This now marks back-to-back conference championship wins for Colon Maldonado. This is her fourth All-NACC honor, after finishing third and second in the two years before her back-to-back championships.
The women had five all-conference athletes, including Maldonado, N'Dya Fields, Savannah Vasquez, Emma Jasutis, and Alex Gonzalez.
Fields placed fifth with a time of 23:16.97, which is five spots better than her top 10 finish last season. Vasquez finished ninth in the race with a time of 24:11.89, which is 14 spots ahead of her finish in last year's conference championship race.
Rounding out AU's second place finish Jasutis placing 13th at 24:27.64, while Gonzalez crossed the line right behind her at 15th with a time of 24:32.98.
With a time of 25:15.23, Mika Fields took 24th on Saturday. August Pautsch was the seventh Spartan runner to cross the finish line and took 28th with a time of 25:40.34, while Angelo Goduto cracked the top 30 with a time of 25:43.46.

The next race for the Spartan Cross Country team comes on Saturday, November 2 as they run against North Central College. The meet is at St. James Farm Course in Warrenville, Illinois.
