Spartans drop matchup with Division I Flames

The Aurora University men's basketball team traveled to Division I University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday afternoon to take on the Flames. AU led by as much as five midway through the first-half before trailing by five at halftime. The Spartans hung strong but would eventually fall 91-76.

How it happened
- AU led 6-5 following a three from Isaiah Davis two minutes into the game.
- After a three from Joevonn McCottry and a fast break layup from Dwayne Jervier Jr, the Spartans led 17-13.
- with just under 11 minutes in the opening half, a layup from Mehki Doby put the Spartans up five at 26-21.
- Jervier Jr scored the final three points of the first-half as AU trailed 43-38 after the opening 20 minutes.
- AU opened the second-half on a 9-6 run and at the under 16 media timeout trailed by just two at 49-47.
- The Spartans were again within two following a 7-0 run with five points from Doby and a basket from Noah Butler.
- At the under 12 media timeout, AU trailed by four at 58-54.
- With 7:39 left in the game, Davis drained a three and the Spartans trailed by six at 68-62.
- AU continued to hang in the game at at the under four media, trailed by 10 at 82-72.
- The Spartans would fall to UIC 91-76.
