The Aurora University men's basketball team played the first game of their 2024-2025 regular season on Friday night, squaring off against the University of Dubuque Spartans in Thorton Gymnasium. Despite being down by as much as 22 in the second half, AU showed fight in the second half but fell short 88-76.

Dwayne Jervier Jr. jumper with 12:12 to go in the first half halted an 8-0 Dubuque run. AU trailed at this point 20-15.
- Dubuque would go on a 9-0 run later in the half. AU trailed 43-25 with just under three minutes to go.
