Bilsborough's goal not enough in Spartans loss

The Aurora University women's hockey team came back to Fox Valley Ice Arena for the second game of their weekend series against the Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus College. Despite only trailing the #5 ranked Gusties by one goal heading into the third period, the Spartans would fall on Saturday afternoon 3-1.

How it happened 
- Gustavus Adolphus scored four and a half minutes into the contest to give AU an early 1-0 deficit.
- The Spartans secured a 5 v 4 power play shortly after. Anabelle Scriver put a shot on goal for AU, but was unable to knot the game back up at one.
- The guests added one more with about three minutes to go in the opening period, as the Spartans trailed 2-0 going into the first intermission.
- AU put 12 shots on goal in the first, but were unable to convert.
- The Spartans killed off an early power play in the second to keep them trailing by two.
- At 16:46 in the second period, Jillian Bilsborough broke away from the defense and found herself all alone with the Gusties goalie. Bilsborough fired a backhand shot that went top shelf for the AU goal.
- This made it 2-1 heading into the second intermission.
- AU again killed off an early third period power play, but Gustavus Adolphus scored again at 12:21 in the third.
- A couple of Gusties penalties late in third gave AU a major advantage at 5 v 3. Cara Cook nearly put the Spartans back within one, but was unable to do so.
- The Spartans would fall by a score of 3-1.
- Despite the loss, Zoie Campbell finished with a total of 47 saves, including 20 in the third period.
