Spartans pull off comeback to stun Albion

The Aurora University men's basketball team used a 16-0 scoring run in the final 3:46 of the second half to beat the Britons of Albion College on Tuesday afternoon 60-58. Mekhi Doby secured the winning basket to cap off the Spartan comeback, while Isaiah Davis had 21 points, eight rebounds, and five steals to lead AU.

How it happened
- Isaiah Davis got it going early for the Spartans, scoring six of the team's first nine points. AU held a 9-8 lead after about three and half minutes of play.
- Midway through the first half, Dillon Harrison ignited the AU offense off the bench with five quick points. The Spartans took a 21-14 advantage with 9:47 on the clock in the first half.
- Albion followed with an 11-2 run.
- Harrison halted the scoring run by knocking down a three for the Spartans. AU regained a 26-25 lead with about five and a half minutes to go in the half.
- Davis layed one in at the buzzer to give AU the lead at 29-28 going into halftime.
- Mekhi Doby, Davis, and Harrison each came up with two steals in the first half, as the Spartans forced Albion into comitting 11 turnovers through the first 20 minutes.
- Each team went cold to start the second half, before Albion completed a 13-4 scoring run. AU saw a 41-33 deficit with 10:51 on the clock.
- An old fashioned three point play for AU from Jeffery Hillmer cut into the Albion run.
- Albion followed with a 12-0 scoring run, taking a 53-36 lead with 7:14 to go in the game.
- AU started to get to the free throw line down the stretch, knocking down six free throws in 20 seconds.
- Albion made two free throws of their own to increase their lead to 14 points with 3:46 remaining.
- Baskets from McCottry and Davis kept AU in it as they started to force the hosts into some sloppy play offensively. AU saw themselves down 58-50 with two and a half minutes left.
- That same duo buried a couple of three pointers late in the game for the Spartans. A Davis three pointer capped off a 14-0 scoring run to tie the score at 58 with 48 seconds to play.
- After yet another defensive stop, AU got the ball into the hands of Mekhi Doby. He took it to the rim and laid one in over an Albion defender to complete the comeback for the Spartans.
- This gave AU a 60-58 victory as Jervier intercepted the Albion inbounds pass to allow time to expire.
