Spartans Use Hot Shooting To Down Concordia Wisconsin

The Aurora University men's basketball team got their way back into win column on Wednesday night with a 75-68 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory over Concordia University Wisconsin. Isaiah Davis led the Spartans offensive attack going four-for-five from three, as AU shot 57% from beyond the arc to help give them the eight point victory.

How it happened
- CUW opened the game on a 9-0 run.
- The Spartans would respond with a 14-5 scoring run of their own. Joevonn McCottry and Mekhi Doby each netted five points during the run.
- AU took their first lead of the game at 16-15 with 14:13 to go in the first half after McCottry knocked down a couple at the charity stripe.
- Spartan Dillon Harrison made his first appearance of the season for AU and drained a three on his first shot.
- About seven minutes later, McCottry took one to the rim to give the Spartans their largest lead of the half at 35-25.
- AU would take a 37-35 lead going into the halftime break.
- The Spartans used 50% shooting from beyond the arc in the first half to hold their two point lead.
- Each team traded baskets to open the second half, as Doby stayed hot with six points in the first five minutes of the half.
- With 9:05 left in the game, CUW cut the Spartan lead to one at 58-57.
- AU responded again to the guests with a 9-0 scoring barrage. The Spartans took their largest lead of the contest at 67-57 with just under seven minutes on the clock.
- Isaiah Davis would essentially seal the deal for the Spartans with his fourth three of the game that gave AU a 75-67 lead with two minutes to go.
- The Spartans won the contest 75-68, as Davis led all scorers in the game with 19 points.
- McCottry and Doby each finished with 15, while McCottry dished out seven assists.
