Spartans Cling Their Way To Fourth-Straight Victory

The Aurora University women's basketball team traveled to Benedictine University for their last road game of the 2023-2024 regular season. Another strong second-half from the Spartans including a third quarter where they outscored the Eagles 16-6 helped give AU the 63-59 NACC victory.

How it happened
- Macy Kocen started out on fire, collecting the first seven AU points.
- The Spartans saw a 12-7 deficit through the first six minutes of action.
- Sam Barrett scored four points in just the last three seconds of the first quarter after picking off a pass and drawing a foul.
- AU trailed 18-16 going into the second quarter.
- Gabrielle Wolff tied the score at 27 with 2:48 left in the first-half after an old fashioned three-point play.
- AU trailed 36-33 at halftime.
- The Spartan defense forced the Eagles into shooting just 29% from the field in the second quarter.
- AU came out firing in the second-half on a 7-0 run to take a 42-36 lead.
- The Spartans outscored the hosts 16-6 in the third quarter to get out to a 49-42 lead going into the fourth.
- Eliot Dojutrek knocked down a couple of treys in the frame, while Selena Vargas added six points.
- Delani Kosner paced the Spartan offense with 4 assists in the frame for a total of nine through just three quarter.
- AU took their largest lead of the game at 55-46 after a step-back jumper from Barrett.
- The Eagles went on a 8-0 run to cut the AU lead to just one with three minutes to go.
- It was a one possession game with just 16 seconds remaining, but free throws from Wolff and Dojutrek helped seal the deal for a 63-59 Spartan victory.
- Dojutrek led the offensive charge with 17 points while Vargas had another dougle-digit rebounding game with 13.
- Kosner ended up dishing out a game-high 10 assists.
