The Aurora University women's hockey team hosted Marian University for the second game of the first round of the Slaats Cup Playoffs after taking game one yesterday by a score of 5-1. Each side netted a goal in the first period, but another scoreless two periods and overtime sent the Spartans into the semifinals by virtue of a tie at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday evening.

- Seconds after the Sabres got back to full strength, Peyton Elliott secured a loose puck in the offensive zone and passed it to Madison Gasper for the wrist shot that found the back of the net.
- This gave AU a 1-0 lead 2:35 into the opening period.
- About four minutes later, the Sabres tied the score at 1.
- The score stayed tied at 1 going into the first intermission as AU put 23 shots on goal to just six for the visitors.
- The Spartans headed to the 5v4 power play about halfway through the second period, but were unable to find the back of the net after a couple of shots on goal.
- This kept the score knotted at 1 going to the second intermission.
- AU put another 12 shots on goal in the final period, but were unable to take the lead.
- A clean overtime period with no penalties kept the score tied at 1 through five minutes.
- By virtue of the tie, the Spartans advance to the semifinals after yesterday's 5-1 victory.
