Senior Day Celebration Ends In AU Victory

The Aurora University women's basketball team hosted Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday afternoon for another NACC match-up on Lancaster Court in Thornton Gymnasium. Prior to tip-off, the Spartans honored the 2023-2024 senior class before giving the home crowd a lot to cheer about in a 64-54 victory over the Raiders.

How it happened
- Senior Gabrielle Wolff was on fire from beyond the arc to open up the game, netting nine of the Spartans first ten points on three three-pointers.
- AU saw a 10-7 lead through the first five minutes.
- Five points from Kamryn Bullock in the final minute of the first tied AU with the visitors at 17.
- Eliot Dojutrek went on a scoring flurry at the end of the second quarter, doing work from both the foul line and behind the arc.
- Nine straight points from Dojutrek helped give the Spartans a 35-31 lead going into the locker room.
- The second also saw AU play well defensively, forcing the Raiders into shooting just 27% from the field.
- The third quarter saw AU go on a 13-2 run in the last five minutes of the frame.
- Four different Spartans got in on the scoring fun during the run, including five from Riley Doggett.
- AU outscored the visitors 20-11 in the third for a 55-42 lead.
- Selena Vargas netted her 10th point in the final minute, giving her another double-double with 10 rebounds.
- The Spartans would come away with the 64-54 victory.
- Macy Kocen had two steals in the second half and finished with three in the game.
- Wolff led the balanced scoring attack with 15 points on an efficient 5-for-9 shooting.
