Spartans fall in overtime at Methodist

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team headed to the southeast and North Carolina for spring break and a match-up at Methodist University. AU fell in overtime 11-10.

How it happened
- AU dominated early, scoring two goals 18 seconds apart at 13:54 and 13:36 from Brianna Peck and Danielle Cobbett.
- Methodist added two goals to tie the score at 2 which would be the score after 15 minutes of action.
- Cobbett gave AU the lead again 24 seconds into the second.
- A short time later Peck scored on a free position attempt and AU led 4-2.
- With 9:03 left in the second, Caley Russell scored a power play goal to put the Spartans ahead 5-2.
- Just after a Methodist goal and with one minute remaining in the first-half, Kenly Axvig scored on a free position.
- AU led 6-3 going to halftime.
- Peck scored her third goal of the game early in the third for a 7-3 AU lead.
- Methodist cut the lead to 7-5 but Peck tallied her fourth of the day midway through the third to push AU back up by three at 8-5.
- After the lead was again cut down to two, Grace Pelletier scored on a power play.
- AU took a 9-6 lead into the fourth.
- The Spartan lead was down to one early in the fourth but would remain a 9-8 lead until 2:24 left when Methodist tied the game 9-9.
- With 1:48 left in the fourth, Kenly Axvig scored a power play goal and put AU ahead 10-9.
- Methodist tied the score at 10-10 with 40 seconds to play.
- AU won the following draw but would not get off a shot before the final horn sounded which sent the contest to overtime.
- Neither team scored in the first three minute session of overtime.
- With 2:24 left in the game, Methodist would lead for the first and final time in the game, scoring to defeat AU 11-10.
