Bilsborough overtime goals lifts Spartans over Sabres

The Aurora University women's hockey team took on Marian University on Friday afternoon, as they pickup NCHA play again for the first time in over a month. The Spartans saw an early 2-0 deficit in the first period, but stormed back to force overtime. Teagan Moffat scored two goals for AU, while Jillian Bilsborough secured the game winning goal in overtime to give them a 4-3 victory.

How it happened 
- Marian scored 16 seconds into the contest to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Sabres added another about 5:16 into the first period to hand AU a 2-0 deficit.
- Later in the first, the Spartans cut that deficit to one when Teagan Moffat lit the lamp off an assist from Jillian Bilsborough.
- The score would sit a 2-1 heading into the first intermission.
- AU secured a couple of power plays over halfway through the second period, but didn't convert until they were shorthanded late in the second.
- Anabelle Scriver found Zara Post who tied the score at two at the 17:20 mark while the Spartans were shorthanded.
- This 2-2 score would hold going into the second intermission.
- Marian scored a power play goal with under five minutes left to take 3-2 lead.
- The Spartans responded as Moffat scored her second goal of the game with 1:30 left to tie the score at 3-3.
-The game proceeded to a sudden death three-on-three overtime period.
- Marian was called for a tripping penalty just seconds into overtime.
- The Spartans were unable to score on the power play.
- With 2:03 remaining in overtime, Post found Bilsborough breaking toward the net, and Bilsborough one-timed the puck into the back of the net for the overtime game winning goal.
-The Spartans were victorious by the final score of 4-3.
