Spartans Silence Falcons

The Aurora University men's hockey team extended their winning streak to five games on Friday afternoon when they took down the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin by a score of 7-0. Landry Schmuck finished with four points on two goals and two assists for the Spartans who eased past the Falcons in the first game of the series.

How it happened
- Matt Weber scored the first of seven goals for the Spartans just 5:34 into the first period to give AU the early 1-0 lead.
- Weber was assisted by Hassan Akl and Mathis Bedard.
- AU netted another even strength goal about four minutes later when Landry Schmuck sniped one in off assists from Juliano Santalucia and Chase Broda.
- This helped give AU the two goal advantage going into the first intermission.
- Schmuck later picked up an assist along with Keaton Lipsett when the Spartans made it 3-0 at the 6:21 point in the second.
- Just over two minutes later, Riley Dekowny lit the lamp as Broda and Santalucia teamed up again to earn the assists.
- Dekowny's first goal of the game with both teams at even strength extended the Spartans lead to 4-0.
- After two goals in each the first and second period, AU took their four goal lead into the second intermission.
- AU's next goal came while on the power play as Chayce Schmidt got in on the scoring fun off assists Simon Diaz and Schmuck.
- At 16:24 in the third, the Spartans struck again on the 5 v 4 advantage as Schmuck notched his second goal.
- He was assisted by Akl and Diaz on his fourth point of the today.
- The Spartans added one when Dekowny notched a second goal of his own, coming off a feed from John Hallard.
- Lipsett picked up his second assist on AU's final goal to help the Spartans take down the Falcons 7-0.
