Record 72 Saves not enough for Spartans in Season Opener

The Aurora University women's hockey team began their 2025-2026 campaign on the road in Saint Paul, Minnesota against Hamline University. In her first Aurora University game, freshman goalie Macy Blooming set the AU Women's Hockey single game record for saves with 72. The Spartans would go on to lose the season opener 4-0.

How it happened 
- Neither team could put on to the back of the net in the first period, but Spartan goalie Macy Blooming recorded 21 saves.
- Almost half-way through the second period, Hamline would score, going up 1-0.
- With 25 seconds left in the second, on a power-play, the Pipers would score their second of the game.
- Blooming would collect 22 more saves in the period, bringing her total to 43.
- Going into the third down 2-0, the Spartans held on for most of the final period.
- Then with four minutes left the Pipers would score again.
- And in the final seconds of the game Hamline would score the fourth and final goal of the game.
- The Spartans would lose 4-0.
- In the third period, Spartan goalie Macy Blooming would collect 29 more saves, bringing her game total to 72, an AU Women's Hockey Record.
