Spartans survive Warriors to advance in NACC Tournament

The Aurora University women's volleyball team survived a tough four set match with the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in the opening round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. AU defeated the Warriors 3-1 in nail-biting fashion. 

The Basics

How it happened
- AU jumped out to a 9-3 in the first set and then held off a furious Warrior rally to win 25-23.
- Katelyn Ruse had five kills and Izabella Kowalczyk four in the set one win.
- The Spartans pulled away early in the second set and coasted to a 25-18 win.
- Trinity Nelson had 10 assists to six different Spartan attackers.
- An early AU lead in the third set turned around and into a dog fight of a set.
- The score was tied seven times and lead changed hands three times, a sign of the times to come in the fourth set after WLC won 26-24.
- Katie Brisk had six digs in the third.
- The largest lead in the fourth set was three points at 3-0 WLC. The remainder of the set was a one or two point contest if not tied.
- The score would be tied 13 times with five lead changes. 
- The Spartans had the final lead change on a Katelyn Ruse kill to make the score 27-26 AU.
- A dump from Trinity Nelson found the court for the match point winner of 28-26.
- Ruse and Kowalczyk each had six kills in the fourth set with 10 assists from Nelson and 16 digs from Brisk.
